Cumberland VA – Cumberland County’s Animal Control department was recently recognized by the Best Friends Network for their efforts in making Cumberland’s Animal Shelter a “no-kill” shelter.
The recognition is related to Cumberland County’s ability to maintain or achieve no-kill status and save rate of 90% during calendar year 2024. Cumberland’s Animal Shelter achieved a 94% save rate combined for all cats and dogs during calendar year 2024. Achieving a save rate of 90% can be challenging and requires a significant, organized, and coordinated effort between officers, shelter staff, and volunteers.
