Cumberland County, VA – Cumberland County has received a $10,833 charitable contribution from Colonial Pipeline Company. The charitable contribution is earmarked to be applied towards the County’s new radio system communications project in partnership with the Virginia State Police.
The Cumberland County radio system project is in its final stages of development with a go live timeframe of Spring 2026. The project is being funded through previous debt restructuring, grants, donations and through the partnership with VSP. Estimated savings to the system’s implementation is close to 2 million dollars.
The Colonial Pipeline charitable contribution comes after another recent donation of a Ford Explorer that is being utilized by Cumberland County’s Emergency Services. Other recent grants include a previously awarded RSAF grant for a new ambulance, Emergency Medical Dispatch grant, a VDEM Performance Grant, VDEM Radiological Grant, and Assistance to Localities Funding for volunteer fire departments.
For the current calendar year 2025, Cumberland County has been awarded grant funding and/or received donations totaling $686,768.34 for public safety improvement efforts.
Colonial Pipeline was founded in 1962 and is now the largest refined petroleum products pipeline by volume in the United States. They transport more than 100 million gallons (or 2.5 million barrels) of fuel each day across 5,500 miles of energy infrastructure. We are responsible for transporting about 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans in 14 states. Cumberland County is home to one of Colonial Pipeline’s operational hubs.
